Hi everybody, how many of you are kind of bothered by the ads at the top of the forum? Yes, sometimes they can be funny, but when you get ads for lesbian dating services, it's just creepy. Odds are there are ads for lesbian dating services at the top of this page because I mentioned it twice, but I don't know.
Why don't I know? [insert advertisement voice] because I downloaded the Adblock Plus add-on for my Firefox browser!
But what does that mean? It means that everywhere I go on the web, I don't get pop-ups or embedded adds. Where the annoying adds are on the forum, I just see blank white space. I'm probably missing out on a lot of great products (not) but at least I don't see the adds for lesbian dating services.
So, I thought to myself "self, why don't you share with the rest of the forum how to have this great gift." And myself was like "whatever." So now I'm writing this.
Step One: Download Firefox
There are several excellent reasons for downloading Firefox. First, it runs faster than Internet Explorer, it has fewer security holes, and unlike Google Chrome, it can have Google Toolbar (which is another thing you should download)
To download Firefox onto your computer, go here and follow their steps. Since that's a direct link to the download page, it might not work for you. If it doesn't, go here and click the green "Download Now" button (halfway down the page)
Step Two: Install Adblock-Plus
Once you've downloaded Firefox, launch it (it will ask you some questions, answer "yes" to importing your bookmarks, and "yes" to making it your default browser. Or think for yourself, you should be all right)
To install Adblock, go to the "Tools" menu, then select "Add-Ons" There should be a pop up window. Select "Get Add-ons" type "Adblock Plus" into the search bar, the first result should be the one you're looking for, a red stop sign symbol with the letters "ABP" on it. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.
Step Three: enabling adblock
I'm actually not sure if this step is even neccessary, it's been so long since I downloaded Adblock. But, if it asks you to select which "filter" you want, pick the first one (it should be something like "standard USA" or such")
And that's it. Follow these steps, and you will no longer get ads for lesbian dating services.

Yay! I got it to work! Thanks, Micah. I was getting awfully tired of those lesbian dating adds.
Note: If anyone installs Adblock and for some reason it doesn't seem to be working- you probably (like me, somehow) neglected to add the filter and can do so by:
Going to tab Tools
Clicking on Add-ons
Clicking on Adblock Plus's "Options"
And under the first tab "Filters" click "Add filter subscription." (Then click on top USA one.) |

| I don't really notice the ads or even pay attention to them. Actually, I don't even really get any ads to begin with......maybe it's just my computer..........lol So, yah. |
